The Gospel of Thomas: The Q source of Christianity.

Isarel Nazir.

The book starts out with information about the author.

The book says that all religions speak of universal values such as God, love, peace, virtue and so on. He says that 'Each religious tradition is rich in unique teachings.'

He then talks about ancestral sages such as Lao Tzu, Confucius, Krishna, Mohamed, Jesus, Buddha and Solomon.

He notes that the Q source could be the original basic writings from which some books in the Bible were taken. He believes that the Book of Thomas is the Q source (or at least part of it.)

He talks about the Pharisees, the Sadduces and the Essenes and says Jesus was an Essene. There was also a group that worked to protect the Essenes.

The author also says there are various themes in the Gospel of Thomas such as the Kingdom of God, the Savior, Paradise, Asceticism and so on.

He goes into the history of Pontius Pilate, Caligula and others.

He notes that the 'doors of the Kingdom are within oneself.'

It's an interesting book although it doesn't go into each verse like most other books on the Gospel of Thomas do.
