General Overanxious wants to attack the village Asterix and the others live in. He attacks and is defeated, so he has his men build a wooden wall around the entire village. Asterix and Obelix plan to escape, travel through Gaul, pick up delicacies from all over Gaul and have a special banquet.
They set out and encounter Romans everywhere. They even run into a Roman named Poisonous Fungus. They are betrayed by some people, encounter pirates and so on, but they succeed in their mission and embarrass the general.
