Asylum

This is a novel about a group of students who have signed for some special advanced courses. The place they were supposed to go to is not available so they are housed in an old building that used to be an insane asylum.

The center character is Dan Crawford who is16. He makes friends with Abby and Jordan. A guy named Felix is his roommate.

Being curious Dan, Abbey and Jordan end up exploring the old building and going places they should not be in. This results in major trouble as they find photos and files from the building's past. Abby becomes obsessed with a girl in one of the photos. Dan starts getting mysterious messages left on his desk and stranger things happen with his cellphone.

A lot of this centers on patient #361 as identified in the files. A janitor is murdered and things get worse for the group as it seems someone has taken a personal interest in Dan. Matters at the school as a whole go from bad to worse. The question behind all of this is, of course, who is the person threatening Dan and will he and the other two manage to survive long enough to stop this apparent murderer.

It's a good book, quite spooky and well written.
