Elisabeth: The Princess Bride

This is the story of Elisabeth, a young girl living in Austria-Hungary in 1853. She's a very independent girl, very intelligent and talented. She ends up engaged to be married to the man who is the emperor of Austria.

The book has the normal events in a Princess' life, normal family ups and downs, and a lot of excitement on her part in becoming the Empress. Unfortunately, this is also one of the books that does not have a happy ending. Although she does get married, the marriage is not a happy one and only gets worse as time goes on. Finally, she ends up being murdered when she was sixty years old.

The historical section of this book is proportionally larger then in almost any of the other books and contains a great deal of information about events going on in the world during her time of life.

The book is decently written, but it is certainly not one of the happier ones in the series.
