Brooklyn Rose

This is another historical work from Ann Rinaldi, but this one is based on her actual grandparents. It's the story of Rose, who was only 15, who ended up getting married to a man named Rene. The story takes place around 1900.

Rose marries Rene not because she likes him, but because thinks he owns the mortgage on her parent's farm and it's something she should do to help them. She doesn't even know if she will ever love him or not.

Then, the first day they arrive at their new home, they no sooner walk in then they find a dead body in the house. It's the housekeeper, who had died of a heart-attack. Not a good way to start off a new marriage.

Fortunately, things work out and what results is a really nice, very romantic story of a young couple at the start of the 1900's.
