The Nine Lives of Chloe King: Volume One: The Fallen

The story starts out in a somewhat unusual fashion. Chloe, who is a studious young teenage girl, falls off a high building and dies.

And then wakes up.

And then goes through some major changes in her personality and even her physical structure, including possessing claws like those of a cat and being able to leap from roof to roof like characters do in various anime series.

It also happens that there is a secret group which is out to "take care" of people like her, people who they believe will contaminate the human race. This is the story of a girl who is a fairly basic, normal teenage girl who has to undergo radical and even threatening changes in herself and in her dealing with those around her and how she handles that.

This is, of course, only the first book in a series and so we are left with a lot of questions at the end of the novel. This is a rather good story, starting with a somewhat different type of premise and going from there. I am a little concerned at some slightly disturbing changes in her behavior, but I imagine that further novels will explain why this is happening.

I look forward to seeing how the story progresses.
