What the Cards Said

This fourth book in the Circle of Three series is centered on Annie who has found that she has a talent for using the Tarot cards. She finds out , though, that there's a difference between just using something and using something wisely.

Annie reads the Tarot cards for some of the most popular students in school, in part because she wants to become popular herself. Two problems arise, though. One being that people who have a reading often hear what they want to hear and this can lead to problems when the things seen don't come out exactly as they expected. Another problem is that Annie is gifted and does very good readings; so good that she ends up getting blamed when bad things that she sees happen actually do happen.

All of this tends to strain her relationship with Kate and Cooper, causes some self-doubts, and leads to several meetings with the goddess Hecate who tries to warn Annie about what is happening.

There's also a section where the girls go to a sort of Tarot party where various people in their Wiccan group dress up as cards and pass on messages to the people who are walking the Fool's path which, for Annie, includes a meeting with someone that no one else knew was there.

There's also more explanatory information about Wicca in the book, and some material on the Tarot itself. A very interesting fourth book, sort of along th lines of "with great power comes great responsibility."
