City of Bones

Clary Fray is 15. Her mother is an artist, and a person named “Uncle” Luke is a friend.

Clary goes to a club and sees a boy killed. The boy then disappears, and she meets some very strange people.

She comes home late and her mother wants to take her out of the city for the summer on a “vacation”. clary knows little about her parent's history.

Jace is the name of one of the invisible people and he's following her; he tells her that he's a shadowhunter.

She's talking to her mother on the phone when her mother is attacked.

She gets to her home and is attacked by a monster. Then she's taken to a place called The Institute and learns that there is a group of Shadowhunters who kill demons. (A little like The Watchers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but with lots of slayers rather than just one.)
