Dark Magic

This is an extremely grim novel as far as events go. Morgan starts off incredibly upset by the apparent death of Hunter, a death which she caused. Then things get worse as Cal and his mother begin to act strange.

Morgan is shown Cal's sanctum, and she's freaked out about the types of energy feelings she gets there. Pressure is put on her to let Cal and his mother have access to Morgan's mother's tools, and she doesn't want them to.

Then things get even worse as Cal's real personality and purpose are revealed. A grim, but still good, fourth book in the series.
