Davy Crockett and the King of the River

This is part of the Disney's American Frontier series and is the first book in a set about Davy Crockett. Reading the book brings to mind the Disney series about Davy Crockett and you can really picture the things happening.

Davy and Georgie have been hunting and have a lot of furs and need to sell those, so they plan to go on a boat down the Mississippi River. They end up taking one boat that is in a race with another, the second pilot under the command of Mink Fink, the 'King of the River.'

There's a rather humorous scene about how Georgie got them into the mess in the first place.

There's dirty tricks on both sides, and a problem with river pirates. Mink Fink has the lead during most of the race, but Davy makes a friend that helps him utilize a shortcut.

It's a neat book with some fairly decent illustrations.
