All Hallow's Eve

This book is a series of very short stories, all of which display Velde's fascinating style. The stories are good and dark at the same time.

1. Come in and Rest a Spell: What I mistook as a sort of introduction but is actually a story.

2. Marian: Apparently a GPS system in a car that works very well except for putting the car on a train track when a train is coming. Or is it the GPS? Very good story.

3. Morgan Roehmar's Boys: Ashley is working in a Halloween display and is in a barn with arranged figures. It's a Halloween-hayride type of thing. The farm had belonged before to a guy who killed young, good-looking boys.

Ashley is stuck in the barn during a sudden unexpected thunderstorm. A barn that stands where a house was, a house that had a man who liked to kill, a man who was now dead, but who still wanted to kill.

4. Only On All Hallow's Eve: Pranks can sometimes have fatal consequences.

5. Cemetery Field Trip: If you're a young girl, don't go into a mausoleum by yourself. You never know who, or what, might be waiting there for you.

6. Best Friends: Nikki and Aimee Ann are best friends, according to Nikki, but not according to Aimee Ann. Nikki is dead, partly due to Aimee Ann, and Nikki is tired of being alone.

6. Pretending: Brian is picking up Kyla for a date and she lives way out in the boondocks. When he gets to her house he finds her parents acting like vampires. Vampires aren't the only form of horror at the house, though.

7. I Want to Thank You: Extremely short, albeit still an interesting story.

8. When and How: Some teenagers go to get a reading from a psychic. Another grim but good story.

10. When My Parents Come to Visit: Matt's parents come to visit and that's never a pleasant event since they bicker all the time and criticize everything. There's more dead people than one realizes in this story.11. Edward, Lost and Far from home: A trick-or-treat prank gone badly wrong.

12. My Real Mother: A girl whose adopted plans to find her birth mother. Sometimes what you find isn't what you wanted at all. Then there's the matter of the pesky adoptive parents.

13. Holding On: A very good story with a very interesting twist.
