I Am Alive

An e-book. This is a futuristic book in which the United States as such no longer exists. A powerful individual back by lots of thugs and known as the Prophet Hannibal Xitler maintains control of an areas on the west coast of California.

He represents a group called the Summit which assigns all teenagers a number of one through ten. This number determines what status in society they will occupy or whether they will be sentenced to almost sure death.

Six through nine makes one safe. Up to the start of the story there has never been a ten. Those below six are assigned to play in an area that was once Disneyland. The games they play are built to kill as many of them as possible. Anyone who survives to the last game has to fight a mutated monster and to date no one has survived.

The number of kids murdered in this manner in this area is in the thousands per game and so far there have been nine games. The leader is the Prophet Hannibal Xitler. It's obvious that the last name is to call up the memory of Hitler.

Kids have bombs in their heads, bombs in buses and so on. It's meant to be set up in a way that no one survives.

Decca ends up in the games helped by a boy named Leo. For some reason he expects great things out of her.

People world-wide watch the games and the Summit uses them to make money.

Won't they don't count on is that Decca may be very much more than what she seems.

It's a very, very bloody and harsh story of tremendous abuse of power that we've seen in the past (gladiators in Rome who actually had a better chance of surviving than these kids) and, of course, Nazi Germany. It's a good story and there will be a follow-up story.
