This book is about John Hancock, the first man to sign the Declaration of Independence. It's an interesting story, telling how he was a major businessman who gradually fell away from the British due to all the taxes they were putting onto the colonies. He helped lead the initial movement for independence and thus became a hunted man.
He ended up as governor of Massachusetts. His private life, though, did have its share of tragedy.
