Beautiful Dead:Jonas

This is a really excellent and quite unusual novel. The main character is Darina, a girl who has lost her boyfriend in a motocycle accident. She's missing him terribly until the day she is out in the country and runs across him and several other students, all of whom she knows died.

Except they are only sort-of dead. Apparently some spirits of dead people who died with questions surrounding their death are able to come back to this world and have a limited time to find out what actually happened to them. A guy named Hunter is the guide, in effect, for this group of young people.

These people have ways to protect themselves. They also have certain special abilities, and certain rules that they have to follow. This causes Darina some difficulty, but she eventually is allowed to work with them to help find out just how her boyfriend, Phoenix, died.

At the same time she has to deal with her parents who think she is acting really strange, try to get another girl involved in the wreck to remember what happened, and at the same time avoid being beaten up by some would-be thug.

It all makes for a very, very good story and, fortunately, this is not going to be the only book. The next one will deal with another member of the group that Darina has met.
