Kiki Strike

Ananka is a girl in the 7th grade at the Atalanta School for Girls. It's a posh school composed primarily of two groups: the ultra-popular and the scholarship girls. Ananka is basically in no group at all.

Ananka discovers what are several rooms in an underground structure of some sort. It turns out its a city under their city, and its called the Shadow City.

Kiki Strike is a short girl with white hair in Ananka's class. Ananaka is fascinated by Kiki, and tries to follow her one day, but loses her. Later, Kiki says that they are going to work together, and they assemble a team of other girls to help, one a genius in chemistry, one an expert in disguises, one an expert at forging and computer hacking, one great with machines, picking locks, etc, and Ananaka, who is give the slot for urban archeology.

The Shadow City has exits to other buildings, and the real adventure starts her as the girls discover faked merchandise, an entrance to a bank, and a lot, a whole lot, of rats.

After a series of adventures Kiki disappears for two years, but returns to lead the group on their most dangerous adventure yet, fighting against kidnappers, thugs, and murderers.

The book is wonderful. The descriptions of the rooms in the Shadow City are very vivid, and I'd love a book just about that subject alone. All the characters are brought to life very well, and there's lots of action in the story, too. This is really a fun read!
