Kit's Tree House

This is another in the American Girls Short Stories series of books. The Great Depression is still going on, and Kit and her family are still having trouble making ends meet.

Kit's mother is re-upholstering some of her furniture with old curtains while Kit baby-sits for a woman who is helping her mother.

Kit's father builds her a tree house but, at first, it's not very good. Kit is able to make it work, though, with a little creativity.

The historical section discusses the depression and “Hoovervilles.”

Another interesting book in the series.
