Really Truly Ruthie

This is another of the American Girls books dealing with the Depression. Ruthie is a friend of Kit's. Kit's family is in danger of losing their house to the bank. Ruthie and Kit are going to visit a relative in order to borrow enough money to stop the foreclosure.

Problems arise, though. Charlie, Kit's older brother, stops her from coming and tries to stop Ruthie, but eventually agrees to go with Ruthie on the trip.

They have a rough time getting to the woman's house, but she has no problem giving them the money needed for Kit and her family.

There is, as always, a historical section to help put the events of the story into perspective.
