Picture Day

In this story Lizzie's school is having it's picture day and, like all the other students, she wants to look good when her picture is taken. Unfortunately, putting together the perfect outfit proves ultra-difficult and she ends up wearing a sweater that her grandmother gave her.

There is also a subplot about Lizzie's brother staying home for school by faking being ill. He didn't bother to do his homework and there's going to be a pop quiz that day. His mother knows he's faking and plays her own little games on him.

Gordo manages to come up with another blouse that Lizzie can wear instead of the sweater.

A kid throws green paint, aiming to hit Miranda but Lizzie jumps in front of her first.

This episode shows the type of pressures kids in school come under from their peers, especially in relationship to the concept of how they look physically and the type of clothes that they wear. It also has a lot to say about friendship.

At the same time, though, one has to assume that the kid who threw the paint was properly punished; there was nothing in the episode shown or said that he was, though, and such behavior cannot be tolerated in any school.

The way the mother handled Matt was pretty neat although he's my least favorite character on the show.

This episode is covered in the paperback Picture This.
