Lizzie for President

The first story is about Lizzie running for class president against a boy who agrees to swallow worms for votes, and a cheerleader. At first Miranda and Gordo are strongly behind her, but gradually the political aspect of trying to please different groups of people causes Lizzie to go overboard to the point where she alienates both Miranda and Gordo.

She becomes too much of a politician and too little of a friend. A fairly cute story. In the second story, Gordo is complaining that he's under a lot of pressure with all his studies, but Miranda and Lizzie want him to enter a contest which could get all three of them a trip to Miami.

The second story is really a commentary on education, looking at two different approaches. One is the rote memorization of dates, names, places, etc, and the other is an approach which emphasizes more an examination of culture and practical application of learning. The rote memorization approach technically wins (since Lizzie's team loses), but the winning does not automatically lead to happiness.
