Freaked Out

As usual, this book has two stories. The first one is about Lizzie and her brother, Matt, exchanging bodies, then having to go to school. Kate bothers Matt/Lizzie, and Matt is able to get back at her in a way that Lizzie probably would never try. Lizzie manages to get through her day as Matt in elementary school, then, later that night, they both switch back.

Stories like that can be cute, but they should, at least, have a reason for something happening. The body-switch just happens; no reason at all is given for that occurring. Likewise, when they switch back, it's just a random event, apparently. I thought that the story might end with “this was all a dream” type of thing, but it didn't, which makes this story cute, but utterly unrealistic.

The second story is better, where there's a Halloween party at school and Kate shows disrespect towards the culture of another country and ends up paying for that disrespect. It's a funny story in many ways, but also one with a message; respect others.
