Little (Grrl) Lost
T.J. is a young girl who had to move from the farm where her family lived into the town after her parents lost a lot of money in stocks. T.J. hears noises in the walls and figures they are mice, but finds out that's not the case when a girl about six inches tall appears. She's Elizabeth, and is known as a Little, while T.J. is a Big.
T.J. and Elizabeth (who's a rebellious-type of teenager while T.J. is about as good as they come) end up becoming friends, but things go wrong when T.J. is attacked by a group of boys and Elizabeth ends up lost.
The book then splits into two approaches, T.J. trying to find Elizabeth and trying to talk to an author of a book on the Littles, and Elizabeth trying to survive in a city filled with other Littles and various other beings such as Gnomes. A delightful part of the book is where Elizabeth is learning about these other beings and how they survive in the world of the Bigs.
It's a fascinating book that is part fairy-tale, part adventure, and part friendship.
