Monkey Wrench Blues

This is the final part of the manga trilogy dealing with the tank that was found that got 200 mpg. In this one Nancy and Bess are in a car that is powered by a variation of the tank's mechanism. They are in a race with other cars to see which group gets money for a project. At least one of the other drivers is not above hitting other cars on purpose.

Nancy has to do some extremely fancy driving and Bess has to almost continually work on the car. In the end, it's revealed that the person behind all the trouble with their car was trying to control the outcome of the race so someone he knew could win the contract.
