What Goes Up

This is sort of a not-really-inspiring volume in the series. In this case Nancy is involved in hot-air ballooning and a crook steals the balloon with Nancy trapped by a rope from the balloon. She gets away and She, George and Bess, along with the police, try to locate the crook who took the balloon. This leads more crooks and a chase.

The story becomes unbelievable right at the start. The possibility of a crook fleeing the police and just by chance coming across the exact spot where a hot-air-balloon group is working is remote at absolute best. Also, he has a car. Why take a much slower balloon? He at least has some chance of outrunning the police in a car, but never in a balloon.

It also just happens that the weather is bad enough to prevent planes or helicopters from intercepting the balloon. Interesting coincidence, that.

Altogether, I think it's the worst novel in the series.
