Midnighters 2

Things get rougher right off as stronger, nastier darklings are fought. There's a scene at a house during the midnight freeze time that's rather intense.

Beth, the little sister, has been spying on Jessica and confronts her. Various couples are forming from the midnighters. Dess finds out they have all been manipulated by a hidden force, however.

The darklings through their representatives are trying to stop an ultra-modern runway from being built in the desert.

There's more character development in this second novel, and a lot on the background of midnighters in the town. There's also a major threat to one of the characters when the darklings turn the player into a mix of darkling and midnighter.

Another good book in the series.
