The Prophecy

This is the 11th book in the Daughters of the Moon series. Catty is planning to steal the Secret Scroll from the museum. She falls for a guy named Kyle, but he's been sent to bring her to her evil father. Her mother had been a Daughter of the Moon, but turned to evil when she fell for Catty's father.

It is, of course, a trap.

Kyle rescues her.

Later he tells her they have to go back, and Catty agrees.

And, again, it's a trap.

Surprise, surprise.

The evil part of her awakens, and she can see in the dimension her father is in. Her father wants her to bring him the scroll in exchange for Chris.

She is told to read the fortune in her fortune cookie at a restaurant and doesn't.

Catty ends up absorbing the evil from the scroll into herself, but not becoming evil in the process.

One of the things that sort of bothers me about this series is how the girls don't really devote enough serious attention to their situation. Granted, they are young and like to have a good time, but the Atrox and its followers are a major power and a major source of evil and trouble, and I would think that the girls would have spent more time learning defensive moves, and planning for the inevitable Atrox attacks.

Also, Catty in this story is really acting in a very stupid manner. She knows about the Atrox. She knows about the scroll, and she knows about her father. The fact that she is “suddenly” attracted to a guy should have sent off warning signs in her head. A little paranoia in this situation would actually be quite justified. She continually makes the same kinds of mistakes over and over. She seems to refuse to recognize just how much danger she and the others are in, and how strong they have to work to avoid that danger whenever possible.

It's like as if Buffy, in that series, never had a Watcher and never had any training.

I just didn't care for this particular story very much.
