Into the Cold Fire

The second novel in the Daughters of the Moon series continues the story of the four girls; Vanessa (molecular disruption), Catty (time travel), Serena (telepathy) and Jimena (premonitions/prophecy).

The novel reveals that, when a Daughter of the Moon turns 17, one of two things happen; either she loses her powers and her memory of ever being different, or she something else happens where they become guardian spirits or something, but that something is not defined.

A major problem happens when Jimena has a premonition of Serena standing in the "cold fire," indicating that she has gone to the side of the evil Atrox. In addition, one of the Atrox, Stanton, tells Serena that they are attracted to each other and that another Follower named Zahi plans to lure Serena into the fire (a ritual for a special follower of the Atrox) and get the credit, and power, (for getting a Daughter of the Moon to change sides) for himself.

Worst of all, Jimena's premonitions come true, opening the possibility that Serena will become a follower of the Atrox and will battle her sister goddesses.Overall a pretty good novel, although Zahi's being evil was terribly obvious from the start.
