The Dead Girls' Dance

This is the second book in the Morganville Vampires series and is just as good as the first book.

There's a lot more in this one about the actual politics of both humans and vampires in Morganville. More is revealed about Oliver and Amelie and other strange beings in the city.

There are also more people that die. Michael is changed in the novel, and Monica remains her nasty, self-centered, cruel self. Shane's father and his cohorts get into the town and basically start a war against the vampires, with little concern if any humans accidentally get caught up in the crossfire.

Claire and Shane become closer, and it's obvious that Eve and Michael are close. Unfortunately, things have gotten quite bad, overall, and Claire has to make a decision which could change her life forever.
