Mary, Queen of Scots

Not everyone written about in the Royal Diaries series ended up having a nice life, and it can be somewhat unnerving to read about a person's young life, knowing that, before long, they would die in a tragic way. Such it is with the focus of this book, a young girl that had a lot of potential but became a victim of politics, ending up being beheaded.

It's a somewhat complicated story, but it's also interesting to see the type of life she led. It's also interesting that the book has her cross paths with Nostradamus, the famous seer who wrote predictions in quatrains, four-lined stanzas that, some people believe, predicted major events in the world of that time and even up to the present day.

The story presents a more human view of Nostradamus, though, referring to his wife and family and his status as a doctor. The historical section also includes some information on him.

The book is otherwise fairly interesting, but somehow doesn't strike me as quite as interesting as most of the other books in the series.
