Sevens, Book 4: Meltdown

Jane is getting ever closer to a nervous breakdown. Karyn tells Reed that his sister, Emily, was in a car accident the previous night. Jeremy's father gets mad at him and blames him, saying he should have been there, totally overlooking the fact that Jeremy left home over the yelling his father was doing about his being gay. Danny's parents get mad at him when he tells them he went off his meds.

They finally do have a half-decent conversation, though. Danny ends up with a suspension instead of an expulsion. Jane snaps at Peter. Jane gets her SAT scores, and she totally tanked them. (It's actually her rebellion against the incredible pressures her parents and others have put on her to be the perfect student.)

Jane is getting down on herself terribly, and so is Meena. Jane's condition gets worse, and she finally faints at her job. Danny and Cori seem to be getting closer to each other. Meena gets trapped alone at home with Steven, but she gets Peter to come over, and it seems that he realizes what Steven had done to her.

Danny finally tells Cori that he is bipolar. She doesn't care at all that he's that way, and they end up kissing.

Jane finally tells her parents about how much she hates the pressure they put on her all the time over her schoolwork.

A really good fourth book in the series.
