The Slave Trade in Early America

This is a very interesting book about the practice of slavery. It points out something called the Triangle of Trade, and what was traded for what, and how slaves became a part of this triangle. The book notes that there were 54,000 voyages across the Atlantic that involved the slave trade (between 1441 and 1880).

It also talks about how various countries practiced slavery, and how the first black slaves taken by Europeans were taken in 1441 by the Portuguese. It also notes that between 1 million and 2 million slaves died on the voyages to the Americas during the slave trading.

The book also discusses some slave rebellions at sea, and how the U.S. banned importing slaves in 1808.
