The Unseen, Part 1

Lucy's mother has died and she's now living with a relative. That's bad enough but one night she's walking through a graveyard, ends up in a fresh grave and meets a girl who isn't quite dead yet and who passes something on to Lucy.

Which is bad enough except that there's some kind of entity that killed the girl that may now very well be after Lucy, a very powerful, perhaps immortal being who has no qualms about killing.

Lucy is befriended by a boy named Bryon who tries to warn her about what is going on but he ends up getting killed in an accident that is caused by this odd entity.

At the end of the first book Lucy is alone, near death and in the clutches of the entity.

It's an interesting first volume with virtually no answers as to what it is that Lucy is facing or what it wants much less what she can do, if anything, about it. Quite a bit of potential for further volumes.
