Witness

This book is written in a somewhat unusual style. The pages are written from the viewpoints of different people, and the pages are written in a physical style that looks like poetry but actually isn't. There are two pages with pictures and descriptions of the main characters and the reader will need to refer to these frequently.

Normally I don't like this type of book because of that type of style, considering it a way of coming up with a book without really writing enough to make up a full book's worth of materials. In this case, though, I found the book to be worth reading and worth getting.

It's basically a story of prejudice and hatred, involving the KKK, a young Jewish girl and a young black girl. The adults vary from those who are not prejudiced to some who are incredibly so, including a preacher. A lot of things happen that are definitely not nice, but the strengths of some of the people manage to come through no matter what happened.

It's an interesting and different book and worth reading.
