This song was inspired by the BBC series "The Duchess of Duke Street". If you haven't seen it and intend to at some point, you should NOT watch this video or read the lyrics--SPOILERS! Also, this song is full of cliches and meant to sound like an early-1900's sentimental song. It's Charlie singing to Louisa. The notes below the lyrics are total SPOILERS. You have been warned!

Louisa

Apples and oranges and peaches and limes
All in the past were all our good times
Save them and frame them you said we should do
Memories sweet for when things are blue.

But love still springs forever, my dear
Love so strong and so true
Wait for me, darling, say you'll be mine
When I come home to you.

Now we're together but Fate makes its plans
So little time and out of our hands
I'll love you always, it's you I adore
I'll meet you again on that golden shore.

Please smile for me, love, eyes shining bright
Keep our dear place alight
You kept me going, your laugh and smile
All that weary long while.

Apples and oranges and peaches and limes
Never forget our wonderful times
Bring back the sweetness and joy we once knew
And know that forever, dear, I love you.
And know that forever, dear, I love you.

Saturday, July 31, 2010, 10:57am:  This is a summer-memories song. It's my first entry for the Bring The Song Project. Basically, I'm to write a song a month for this. Lyrics below the video.

Bring Them Back

Lemon custard ice cream, sprinklers running high
Beach balls, hula hoops and more, summer days do fly

Bring them back, simpler times
Bring him back, brother mine

Bicycles and scooters, cap guns, lightning bugs
Jump ropes, marbles, hopscotch, non-existent hugs

Some things good, some things not
Pallet beds, days so hot

Daddy's garden ripens, canning jars and heat
Screen door slams, don't let in flies, back porch, take a seat

Bring them back, summers mine
Bring them back, easy times

Memories all jumbled, years melt down the drive
Daddy working on the car, now he's not alive

Bring them back, family mine
Bring them back, complex times

Sonny's friends and root beer, summer storm and rain
Me allowed upon the porch, little sister, "pain"

Bring him back, I'll be good
Why he left not understood

Bring them back, family mine
Bring them back, simpler times
