Sonny's Parker 51 Pen

Kent's Parker "51" Pen

[This page was put up mainly to assist in identification. Now it has become another little part of remembrance of my brother. These photos were taken before there was any cleaning or flushing done to the pen. That's 45 years of being exactly like you see in the photos.]

To the best of my knowledge this fountain pen was bought somewhere between 1955 and 1958 and given to Kent as a high school graduation present in June 1958. As far as I know he used it, and it looked like it had had ink in it at some point. It was never used or in any way cleaned from October 1958 (after Kent's death) until August 2003. After advice from knowledgeable pen users and collectors, I flushed the pen and brought it back from being a "holy relic" to its intended everyday purpose. It is a reliable, trusty, "bullet-proof" pen, as everyone told me it would be.

Additional information: with help from experts, it has been determined that this pen was manufactured in the fourth quarter of 1948. The colour is Midnight Blue. It uses the Aero-metric type of filling system. Either this pen was "new old stock" (NOS) when it was purchased; or it was purchased a lot earlier than I thought, and our family history is a bit mixed up.
