Heroic #26

Heroic #28

January, 1945

The cover shows an assault on a beach of a Japanese-held island. The flamethrower was used to kill Japanese in caves and pillboxes.

The Japanese are arrogant, sure that the island will remain in Japanese hands. They were wrong and they Americans ended up taking the island.

A Japanese reporter finds out how the Japanese spun their failures. The Japanese military had control of the government and there was very heavy censorship in Japan during the war. People dared not speak out against the government or the war effort. The news was constantly censored and spun to make it look like Japan was doing fine. This worked until the American forces began bombing Japan itself and the people finally realized they were being sold a bill of goods.

A fascinating patriotic flyer, encouraging students to return to school and do their best.

An interesting story about American ability to surprise the Japanese.
