Taps For The Japs
Recorded August 28, 1944
It's Taps For The Japs since they bombed Pearl Harbor
It's Taps For The Japs since they pulled that boner
That Sunday mornin' on the isle of Oahu
Will never be forgotten and they'll soon be thru
That flag of Japan with its rising sun
It soon will be set and their day is done
When Uncle Sam gets goin'
it really won't take much
To start their slant-eyes rollin'
they'll say "'scuse" and "please" and such
Da da da, da da da
Will be Taps For the Japs the saps
They stuck their necks out
It's Taps For The Japs the saps
Again, this is one of the songs that refers to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The idea that the attack 'Will never be forgotten' has turned out to be quite true. The 'slant eyes' is one of the stereotypical views of how the Japanese appeared.
