CountryMouse's Diary

Part 34

Saturday, April 12, 2003: Long time, no update! :-P  At the end of January I got a brand new Dell computer! Running on Windows XP. The program I have been using for quite some time to design and maintain these pages was FrontPage98. However, FP98 does not work with Windows XP, so I thought I would somehow just use FrontPage Express (free, but no longer supported by Microsoft) to do what FP98 had been doing...but just pared down. Aarrgh, I forgot the limitations of FP Express! And I had gotten really used to using that handy auto-thumbnail feature in FP98 for working with large amounts of photos. So I finally broke down and bought the update version of FrontPage 2002. Yay! I have a lot to learn, but it's going to be very helpful. :-) Cat'r has even gotten me set up to be able to use the FrontPage extensions, so that it will be MUCH easier to modify and maintain and upload things!

Anyway, I have only done a tiny bit with FP2002 so far tonight (it's still Friday, the 11th to me--it's 2am and obviously still dark aka nighttime out there). Here are some new photos in the Coolpix section (well, still back in last September--I have so much updating I want to do!).

10:59am:  More photos up in the Coolpix section: I filled up Page 5 and started Page 6. Go see! qbsmile.gif (319 bytes)

Monday, April 14, 2003: Made a few little changes to the Animal Crossing section of the site. I know, I know, many many AC pictures to size down and upload for your viewing pleasure. ::grin:: Later. I am still playing Animal Crossing everyday, so it's just a matter of catching up here on my website...at SOME point. :-P

Right now I am concerned about just having gotten the 2d Li'l Oldman task in Disney's Toontown Online, a WONDERFUL multi-user online role-playing game! You must go! You must play! My name there is Little Comet Flippendorf. I am a little wine-coloured mousie. :-) I am of course addicted. :-P

Saturday, June 21, 2003: Happy Summer Solstice, everyone! Again with the taking-so-long-to-update! ::grin::

Okay, so I have been playing Disney's Toontown Online a LOT. I am now playing three toons: Little Comet Flippendorf, who is a 100/100 laff point "uber" toon, Poppy Flippendorf, who is at 55 laff points, and Aunt Fireball Flippendorf, who is currently at 25 laff points. Here is a little BIO ABOUT THE FLIPPENDORFS:

Poppy FlippendorfLittle Comet Flippendorf (see pic above right) is my first toon. She is a little maroon-coloured mousie. She likes action! What she was before the massive Cog Invasion was a circus performer! She especially liked being shot out of a cannon. :-) She is also known for her patented Flippendorf Method of Precision Piano (Dropping). She likes running around, being a ronin, a lone fighter offering her services wherever needed. :-)

Poppy Flippendorf is not at all a daredevil like the rest of the clan. She is a refined brown rabbit. She is tall and slender and has excellent manners. She used to be an administrative assistant before answering the Call to Gags. She is more interested in clothes and interior decorating than in actual battle, although she is not one to shrink from the fight. She is currently making her way through the serious training offered in The Brrrgh.

Aunt Fireball Flippendorf is a short red duck. She is somewhat middle-age-to-older. But she is definitely not a stay-at-home duck! She's a feisty bird who spent her early years doing wing-walking with a bunch of barnstormers! She is more in the Flippendorf tradition of doing what society considers more than a little outrageous! She isn't very far along in her training, but she throws every pie and squirts every Cog with gusto!

The informal name of the family estate is The Flippendorf Compound.

Be sure to go to the Toontown Online homepage and sign up for the free trial! And after you've found out how much fun it is, go to the WONDERFUL fansite called Toontown Central! You'll see me there--I'm countrymouse aka Little Comet/Poppy/Aunt Fireball Flippendorf.

Yes, I am still playing Animal Crossing. :-) I got a little burnt out on it in May, but I am now back to playing just about everyday again. :-) I even started a new character in LarkRise: Bianca (all three of my people in LarkRise are named after mice, one way and another: Mousie, MeToo, and Bianca). I have a second town named NeatTown, whose two human inhabitants are Felix and Katrina. Yes, I know I have not updated my AC pages here in forever. Bizzy bizzy, I will eventually. :-)

And one "what's new" note: I had FrontPage go through and check all my hyperlinks, internal and external, today so I think everything is now working properly, after corrections and such. :-) If anything is NOT working right, please email me at fleur @ bookmice.net (remove spaces before mailing). Thanks!

Thursday, June 26, 2003: The Toontown Central! fansite is down, but HERE HERE HERE is where the temporary boards are: Rapunzel's ToonTown Board. [EDIT: I removed the link because we are all back at the Toontown Central! forums once again and at some point these temporary forums will be taken down]

Little firecrackerFriday, July 4th, 2003: Experiment: here is a little movie of some smoke bombs [4.06 MB] we set off earlier this morning, part of our little Fourth of July celebrations! HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! (in order to see the movie, you need QuickTime installed. You can get it here)

I just added some other photos from this morning to the Coolpix section, on Page 6 (that might get moved to another page in that section later on, when I add photos from earlier months). [EDIT: The 4th of July photos are now on Page 9 of the Coolpix section]

Tuesday, July 8, 2003: Well, a long time ago, last September, I said that I was going to do a section on my gel pen collection. Finally, I have done it! Here it is, in all its glory, My Gel Pen Collection! Okay, NOW I can go get some sleep. ::grin::

P.S. Oh yeah, I've added a couple links on the Places To Go, People To See links page.

Wednesday, July 9, 2003: For all you Disney's Toontown Online fans and players: Toontown Central! is BACK! So if you want to link up with the coolest, funnest, most knowledgeable toons in the world, GO! Sign up! Participate! Enjoy! :-)

Monday, July 21, 2003: I've made some additions to My Gel Pen Collection. There are new pens on Page 3 and Page 4! One can never have too many pens. ::grin::

This entry and the pictures and all might not get posted/uploaded for a day or so. Our web hosting service is having some trouble with their hardware. After that is fixed, Cat'r has to redo my FrontPage extensions, so that FrontPage knows what has been changed on my computer vs. what has been changed/is not there yet on the remote site.

Wednesday, July 23, 2003 (the wee hours!): Whew! I finally have gotten up-to-date on putting in my Coolpix photos! I had to move the 4th of July pics, but that is noted above. So there are new photos on Page 6, Page 7, Page 8, and Page 9 of the Coolpix section!

There is also a small addition to My Animal Crossing Diary, in Part 3 at the bottom.

I *have* been taking lots of other photos, but they are mostly photos of the TV screen whilst I have been playing Animal Crossing all these months! It will probably *be* a while before I get to putting some of *those* up!

I also have some stuffed animal photos that I want to put up. I have two new Build-A-Bear Workshop bears (Hope and Sophie), two The Dogs, and other cute people! I hope to get those photos up pretty soon.

And at some point I want to put a few screenshots from Disney's Toontown Online up in a little section reserved for that wonderful game. :-)

10:15am: Oh yeah, forgot to mention last night: I said this on one page in the Coolpix section; but we put thick insulating plastic up to our windows every autumn until the springtime. So pictures I take through the windows during that time of the year have a soft, blurred look. Can't be helped. ::grin::

Thursday, July 24, 2003: Woohoo! Cuteness abounds! I just put up a new page in CountryMouse's FuzzyCat'rs THE DOG Friends! It's all about THE DOG, especially the ones here in The Mouse House.   There are LOTS of photos, so as usual, the page may be a little slow in loading. Be patient and thou shalt be grandly rewarded! That's Cat'r's little THE DOG over there on the right. Click to see him bigger!

Saturday, July 26, 2003: Yesterday I had occasion to be in my favourite bookstore, and I ended up buying a Sheaffer NoNonsense fountain pen, a Sheaffer Calligraphy pen set, and a lovely set of boxed notecards, in a use-later-for-something-else magnetic-closure box (click on photos to see them larger!).

SWAG! Detail on boxed notecards

Cat'r was with me, and he said I had the Light of Retail in my eyes! LOL! Well, how can one walk into a store full of books and stationery and all manner of enticing yummies and not buy *some*thing?!

MORE (::grin::): I just put some more photos up in the Coolpix section, on Page 9 and Page 10. Go see! Also: Bunnicula got us a Hello Kitty shower curtain! Here it is (click on pics to see them larger!):

Monday, July 28, 2003: For the time being we toons are back at Rapunzel's ToonTown Board for our chatting, updates, and so on.

Thursday, July 31, 2003: Eeyipes! Okay, I was not compressing my .jpg's enough! So pictures were taking up way too much room on our domain, and pages were/are taking too long to load (I am assuming--I have cable modem, so I don't know anymore...but one should still try to conserve bandwidth!). So I have begun making some changes. I redid THE DOG page. Fewer pictures and those that are there are not so large now. :-) Other things I will work on over time: the Coolpix section; Coolpix photos that have shown up here in CM's Diary; and the Gel Pen section. The Palmpix photos were not very good quality to begin with, so higher compression on them would not be helpful.

Oh yes: last night I made a larger, wider, "glassier" sign/banner for the very top of the index page/front page; plus I widened the table there. Things were originally designed with 640 X 480 resolution in mind; but that setup looks really skinny and "ick" on higher resolutions.

If you see anything that is broken, not working properly, misspelled, somehow messed up, anything at all that is not PERFECT ::grin::, *please* email me at fleur @ bookmice.net (remove the spaces before using it to email me). THANKS!

4:10pm: Ooo, you GOTTA go visit the new place I put on my links page, Places To Go, People To See! (it's the Pucca Club!) And watch the flash animations and...and...HAVE FUN! qbsmile.gif (319 bytes)
