CountryMouse's Diary

Part 63

Rainbow swirly bar

Saturday, July 1, 2006, 1:53pm: Well, I've finally gotten back to being more witchy again after some exploring and wandering. I've even found some new (to me) tarot decks that I just couldn't resist! So I have put my little pagan/wiccan section back up, with a few modifications. More books and links will be added as I get a round tuit. CountryMouse's Magickal Household is part of my spirituality section, whose hub is My Unitarian Universalist Page.

3:15pm: This is the most beautiful rocket we could've seen today on the 4th! The space shuttle Discovery lifted off just a little over 1/2 hour ago. As I said in my LiveJournal (and I wish I had video of this, to watch again!):  "The most beautiful moment to me, post-liftoff, was the shuttle's separation from the external tank. My god, Discovery looked like a holy white bird taking off into the blackness of space. Gave me shivers of delight!" STS 121 - Discovery

10:24pm: My Fourth of July: I worked on my web pages some; played Animal Crossing: Wild World for about 1-1/2 hours; watched the space shuttle launch; got back online briefly, then storms moved in. Here is what we did then. I can still hear lots of fireworks going off outside my window, right here by the computer. Now I need to go eat a LATE supper. :-)

Thursday, July 6, 2006, 2:21am: I have seen this around on other websites and thought how pretty it is. So now I have it on my site too. :-)  Go see the beautiful Snowglobe of the Month!

8:13am: I've added a few things in the CM's Magickal Household section. And I've brought back/made anew my Wicca Pixies page.

10:32am: Only 6 days (well, I haven't seen what's coming yet today, so only 5 days!) into The Garden of Friendship's 6th Birthday Bash and look at all the LOOT! So many prezzies!!! Man, these folks know how to par-tay! I also got three of five postcards I am receiving in the snail mail postcard exchange! Neat! The Garden of Friendship always has a month-long birthday celebration each year in July. Our founder, Deelight, started up the GOF on July 1st, 2000, and it's been goin' strong ever since! It's a great place to be! There is always something going on, and there are lots of wonderful friends to make!

Friday, July 7, 2006, 3:39am: I wasn't happy with some of the subpages I'd done in my GOF 6th B.D. Bash section, so the USA Map Game pages are different; and the Member Gifts pages are now different too. :-)  I should go back to bed and get more sleeeeep!  Oh yeah, check out the Animal Crossing: Wild World diary--yes, I've been going back to Candlefd! (no anchor, just scroll down, since I don't know where you left off reading anyway)  :-P

Saturday, July 8, 2006, 10:37am: As I was extolling the virtues of being a member of The Garden of Friendship a couple of days ago, it occurred to me that maybe I should extend a formal invitation to any and all of you who might like to join us! So here is your official invitation.

Thursday, July 13, 2006, 8:29am: Last Saturday afternoon Baker, Bebop, Cat'r, and I went to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest"! Good thing Cat'r ordered our tickets online ahead of time! The theatre didn't even have seats for all four of us to sit together! It was PACKED! There was even an usher! Anyway, the movie was great! Lots of action, lots of witty dialogue, wonderful film! Well, what can you expect when you have both Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in a movie together?! Hee! I would LOVE to see it again in the theatre, but movies are sooo pricey! So I'll wait for the DVD. (click on the yummy picture of Captain Jack Sparrow at right to see it larger!) (geez, I am sooo exclamatory about this movie! I guess because it was fun and really cool!)

What else have we been up to? Well, Bunnicula and I are watching tons of BBC dramas on DVD. The latest we are into at present is an Oscar Wilde collection. (click the pic at left to see it larger) Jeremy Brett (oh-so-swoon-worthy!) is in both "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and "An Ideal Husband". Yesterday we also watched the documentary included about Oscar Wilde's life. Fascinating!

I've also been working on my Garden of Friendship 6th Birthday Bash pages. Lots more gifts! Some adoptions too! And I changed to a different webset for the USA Map Game section.

A couple evenings ago, around 7pm, we had a thunderstorm go through with heavy rain and a bit of lightning and thunder. After it got just a bit east of us, it decided to go all severe and spawn tornadoes! Ack! The weather professionals were totally caught flat-footed and didn't even know anything was going on until residents from affected areas started phoning in to the TV stations about what was going on! Fortunately no one was injured! ::whew!:: I took a couple photos or so of the rain and all, but they are just interesting to look at, nothing to do with funnel clouds or such. They're not up yet on the site. Soon soon.

Thursday, July 20, 2006, 1:47pm: Finally! A cool front is coming! We've been having 90+oF. temps since last weekend or possible earlier! Storms in a bit. Probably off and on all night and tomorrow. But relief after that! :-)

There's a new link over in Fuzzy Links and recommendations. It's called Teddie Bear Hugs. Go and see!

11:50pm: I visited a wondrous castle yesterday! Here it is! You MUST go too!

In case you think I haven't been updating,  :-PpPpPpPpP'''''   (that's a raspberry). Heh. I've been working on my Garden of Friendship 6th Birthday Bash section. I have a quilt going; and this morning I put up pages filled with lovely gifts from the Blossoms!

If I remember to phone the lady who offered a ride, I'll be going to my Stitch 'n' Bitch meeting tonight! Yay! I NEED to get back to going! :-D

Thursday, July 27, 2006, 4:42am: OMG, I have been approved by Web Town Website Competition! Already!

That was SO FAST! I applied last night, and about six hours later I found I had been accepted! I have been wanting to join this web competition for about two months; but I wasn't sure if some health issues might get in the way, so I waited. But last night I decided I would just go ahead, no matter what. I am SO EXCITED! I think I start competition next Monday. Whatever, I will put a button up on My Voting Page so you-all (that just may have been voting for me...I hope, I hope?) can vote for me in both competitions now!

Now I gotta get busy and make a Web Town Spirit Page!  :-)

Saturday, July 29, 2006, 6:17am: My mother had a fall a couple weeks ago. She didn't seem injured, other than a scrape and possibly a bump to the head. A few days ago she started having headaches and a small bruise in front of her right ear. Thursday she went to the doctor, but things seemed normal...until after the doctor's office. On the way home and at home she started having slurred speech and non-lucid periods. She went for a CT scan yesterday. She has a subdural hematoma (bleeding between the brain and the skull). She is now in hospital (as of yesterday afternoon). They will observe her for two days, then do another CT scan to see if it is stable or progressively worse. Then the neurosurgeon will decide the course of action. She is in intensive care and getting very good care. My sister, who is a former nurse and has been a medical transcriptionist for over a decade, is keeping me informed. Any thoughts, prayers, and good energies you would care to send would be appreciated. Her name is Emalene and she is in Florida, USA.

Light a Candle

6:38am: I finished reading At Home in Mitford about three weeks (??) ago. Then I read Crimson Roses (published 1928) by Grace Livingston Hill--very satisfying ending! Last weekend I bought all the rest of the Mitford main novels (I have a few more Mitford books to get) and am currently reading A Light in the Window. I couldn't read yesterday around noon, when I was having my little lunch, what with all the worry about Mama; so I just looked at a mindless People magazine, celebrating the 90's. By the time supper came, we had more information, plus Mama was settled in a good safe place. So normal reading was possible again. Now we just wait. But things, at the moment, are not looking as scary as yesterday morning/noontide. Mama just might survive this. (*knock on wood!*)
