#1: Moonlight and Cherry Blossoms

Morisato Keichi is a college freshman left to answer the phone for his classmates. He gets hungry, orders out, messes up the phone numbers and ends up with the Goddess helpline. Instead of pizza he gets a beautiful goddess, Belldandy, who is willing to grant him one wish. His choice-that she stay with him.

There is only one wee little problem. The dorm does not allow women, forcing Keichi to find someplace else to live. What should have been a nice cozy place for two, however, ends up having one after another person come to live with them. There is also one other slight problem-how do you try to establish a physical relationship with a goddess?

#2: Midsummer Night's Dream

Five months have passed and Keichi and Belldandy's relative peace and tranquility is upset by one of Belldandy's sisters appearing out of a TV set while Keichi is watching what is supposed to be an adult videotape. She wants Keichi to make a move on Belldandy, but another woman quite literally gets in the way.

#3: Burning Hearts on the Road

Add one more Goddess; Belldandy's younger sister who wields a very wicked croquet-type mallet and bomps system bugs on the head. She is not at all enthusiastic about Keichi's relationship with her sister and when Keichi takes part in a motorcycle drag race with Belldandy basically the prize, she throws her support to the other team.

#4: Evergreen Holy Night

The system bugs get much, much worse. Belldandy and Keichi can't even get close to each other physically without causing havoc; the "Lord" issues a recall notice to Belldandy, and another girl is ready to make her move on Keichi with Belldandy seemingly out of the way.

#5: For The Love of Goddess

Belldandy is due to be taken back to the heavens, and Keichi is working himself to exhaustion in order to buy her a beautiful ring. Urd and Skuld work to try and keep her on earth. To accomplish that, though, they will have to break some very major rules. If that wasn't complicated enough, it seems Keichi and Belldandy have a secret going way back. This episode is double length at 40 minutes.

Review: This is an excellent series. The stories are interesting, the animation well done, the music pretty and there is even a mythological foundation to the characters of the goddesses. It's one of the kind of series that when you finish one part you want to go right on to the next, and then realize that you don't yet have the next part, sending you on a search to find a store that carries it.

Rating: 4 and 1/2 stars out of 5. Animation excellent, Belldandy in particular beautifully drawn. (Note: some of the more extreme feminists might find her total devotion to Keichi bothersome). Sexual content consists of the usual large-breasted females, but other than that there is no overt sexual action. Definitely a story well worth watching!

There are a lot of comics out on the series and they are all really good and worth getting!

Music from the series

This is a listenable CD. Not exciting, nothing that will stick in your memory, just some fairly calming background stuff to listen to while you are doing something else. Don't necessarily rush right out to buy it. (I don't even care for the cover artwork).
