CountryMouse's Diary

Part 60

Rainbow swirly bar

Sunday March 19, 2006, 4:29pm:  It's almost Spring! But a winter storm watch has just been posted for our area for Monday evening through Tuesday evening! Eeeek!

Let's see, updates: first, a Garden of Friendship Angel is visiting me! Here is the beginning of my section devoted to her.

We didn't go see The Chieftains after all: Cat'r was pretty sick. But I did make the black fingerless gloves/gauntlets. I crocheted a light, airy Ice Blue Red Heart Symphony scarf. I made A Half-Hour Skinny Suede Scarf (knitted), done in Scarlet. I did a matching cloche hat crocheted in the same yarn. And I've worn that set several times with the black moleskin long coat. Every time I wear that coat I hear  Joan Osborne singing "Man in the Long Black Coat" and Nick Cave singing "Red Right Hand" in my head. :-P

I am soooo behind in posting Christmas/Yule (and the following holidays) graphic presents I received. I also am behind, so very behind on posting photos of FO's (finished objects)--knit/crochet/loom knitted. And just general photographs! And awards and stuff and stuff.

I am currently playing (still, of course!) Animal Crossing: Wild World (for the Nintendo DS). And I just started playing the super-cute Ice Age 2: The Meltdown game for the GameCube. You play Scrat (most of the time), and it's fun! (click on the pic at right to see it much larger!)  It's platform-y, but not impossible (I'm not good at platform games; but if I can do it, you can do it! ::grin::) Today Bunnicula got me a plush Nutrageous Scrat! See below! (and also click those pics to see them larger!)

(he makes the funniest sounds, especially when he doesn't have his acorn!)

Over the course of the last several months I have been reading an incredibly addictive, COZY (mostly) mystery series about Aunt Dimity by Nancy Atherton. You MUST start with Aunt Dimity's Death. I read every last one of them that the library had. Then Bunnicula got me an autographed (yay!) copy of the newest one, Aunt Dimity and the Deep Blue Sea, up the street at my favourite brick-and-mortar bookstore. There are eleven books in this series, and they are all definitely worth reading!

Tuesday, April 11, 2006, 5:41pm: I am going to be doing some renovating/slimming down of this site. The Tamagotchi section will be down for a bit, as I retool it as mainly as an archive. Many many links will be broken within CM's Diary. I'll fix them as quickly as I can, but this is going to be a bit of a project.

Took lots of photos of finished objects (needlework) today, but I'm not sure when I will get them up. We shall see!

Friday, April 14, 2006, 3:15am: Nooooo, I can't bear it! The reason I took down the Tamagotchi section was that I was thinking of possibly selling off some of my virtual pets. But I can't do it! So I'm putting (just about) everything back up!

It's the Briarberry Bears that are going to be slimmed down. No, not selling. Giving to a children's hospital.

Tuesday, April 18, 2006, 5:43pm: I now have completed the pages to Angel Paws, from the Garden of Friendship, showing all the lovely gifts she showered me with in March of this year.   She also sent me lots of eCards, but I can't show those on my site.

Thursday, April 20, 2006, 8:40am:  I can't believe it. After all this time, I have the Tamagotchi fever again! I am going to (still haven't done it) make room by sending some/most of the Briarberry Bears to a hospital or Goodwill. Then I am going to look through my virtual pets to see what I actually HAVE. Bunnicula and I have been frantically trying to find Tamagotchi Connection Corner ShopTamagotchi Connection V3's. We search everyday. So far all I have are the pink with pink and silver ribbons one and the snakeskin one. I am not playing with them yet. Also I have been madly collecting little Tamagotchi mini's as I see them at GameStop. I have been playing Tamagotchi Corner Shop (pic at left) for the Nintendo DS and think it is incredibly cute! I paired up with a Kuchipatchi for running shops. My first shop was a spa. I have lots more shops now! As to other virtual pets: I'm looking longingly at the i-Dog, from Hasbro/Tiger. I think I may be getting one of those! Plus accessories! :-D

Oh, I'm still playing Animal Crossing: Wild World everyday. In fact, I was just over in Cat'r's town last night (I visit via WiFi once a week). And I visit Bunnicula's town even more often. I am trying to woo Dora BACK to my town of Candlefd (Candleford). She *was* here, but left when I (stupidly) time-travelled. ::sigh:: Never again! So even though I have Dora's picture, I still want her back. When I visit Haven (B.'s town), I send Dora letters with presents attached and talk with her. I hope I get her back!

I don't know if you-all realize it, but I was thinking about how to coolify this site (yes, yes, one way would be to use an up-to-date-looking blog. I tried that. I hated it. Too clunky and difficult to use, IMO). I think that was another reason why I was thinking of taking down the Tamagotchi section--it wasn't "grown-up" enough. Well phooey. I am NOT grown-up, I never will be, so my site is gonna stay the silly funny funky thing it is. If I never win any more awards, so be it (although it sometimes pains me that the same sites win over and over again in one particular social group I am in....oh well). It's also going to continue to have political things that might not be popular. They are over in the Causes section, for the most part. And each page and each section has a different theme or page set. There is no unifying theme. If I had a mansion, I would not decorate it all the same. I would have rooms with all kinds of different furniture and "themes". It would be eclectic, just as this site is eclectic. I am not comfortable with everything-matching. That's not how I grew up and that's not how I am now. This site is me. It's my Home on the Web. So...well, rant over. ::grin::

6:36pm: Well, most of my Briarberry Bears went to Goodwill this afternoon. The babies went a few days ago. I hope a collector or someone who likes kids gets them. The ones I kept are: Pennyberry, Sarahberry, Mollyberry (my first three B.Bears), BerryAnn (Teddy's girlfriend), and Berryangela. I also kept the four friends-of: Berryellen (pink dog), Berrykate (pale amber cat), Berrysue (cute cute lamb!), and Hannahberry (lavender bunny). The only Briarberry furniture I kept was the two carrycases/steamer trunks, the garden swing, and two of the fold-out chair/beds. Oh Bunnicula wanted the canopy bed, so she got that. :-) Whew, eighteen bears went today! Plus five or so babies earlier! I also kept...well, Bunnicula is storing for me somewhere...two (extra) MIB (mint-in-box) bears: Mollyberry and BerryAnn. ::sigh:: I said goodbye, but it does feel a little heartless. However I never played with them anymore; and I needed the space for other things.

Friday, April 21, 2006, 2:56pm:  Okay, I have the beginnings of a Tamagotchi Connection V3 page up! I have not started one up yet (I have two--pink with bows and snakeskin). But at least the page is ready. :-P

Saturday, April 22, 2006, 11:59pm:  A little over a week ago was Cat'r's and my one-year anniversary of our handfasting.   Cat'r wasn't in town on the day, so Friday night we all had cake and ice cream; and Bunnicula gave Cat'r and me a cute Mickey & Minnie Mouse card, plus gift certificates to our favourite brick-and-mortar bookstore. That was so sweet!

Then today Cat'r gave me THREE presents! One is a CD by The Postal Service called "Give Up", which is wonderfully reminiscent of The Lightning Seeds! Then he gave me a CUTE CUTE CUTE white i-Dog! I had been thinking about getting one!  :-) And lastly (which I think is great, seeing as how we are such geeks and it's so cool) a wireless router! Now I can WiFi to my heart's content! I can even surf the 'Net on my PSP now! Wow! Cat'r always comes up with the coooolest things. :-)

Wednesday, April 26, 2006, 1:31pm: Tamagotchi Connection V3's are coming in slowly (I haunted eBay last week). I also bought a few from Walmart.com. Those are due in near the end of this week or early next week. Until Bunnicula's (which is from Walmart.com) arrives, I don't want to start mine. I want us to raise ours together.

And I will soon have all eight colours of the Tamagotchi Mini! I had six of them (purchased over time from GameStop stores); got one from amazon.com; and one is on the way from yet-another-auction.

B. and I have been obsessively watching a new series (well, new to us--it was on PBS ages ago):Love for Lydia "Love for Lydia". (click on pic at right to see it MUCH larger) The only two actors in the series that we are familiar with are a very young Jeremy Irons (who has been in so much, including "Brideshead Revisited" (with Anthony Andrews), "The French Lieutenant's Woman" (with Meryl Streep), "The Mission" (with Robert De Niro), "Dead Ringers" (with himself--eep), "Damage" (with Juliette Binoche), and more) and Peter Davison (who went on to be a major player in the series "All Creatures Great and Small" (as Tristan), has been in many many other things (I had seen him most recently in "The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries"), and even did a stint as Doctor Who). What we think of the series so far: it's hard to like anyone. Well, I am feeling sorry for Lydia's suitors--she has them all entranced and dancing to her tune. But she is just toying with them. I wonder how this will all end...
