Firefly DreamsSaturday, October 2, 2004, 9:50pm: It's October  ! Days are cooler, nights are getting chilly. It's one of my favourite months of the year. :-)

Cat'r and I went to the library late this afternoon. I picked up a bunch of knitting and crochet books I had on reserve. We also browsed the films and came home with a couple DVDs. The one we watched this evening was "Firefly Dreams", a lovely Japanese film that deals with relationships and growing up, without undue sentimentality. Also it had the most gorgeous scenery! Makes you want to immediately move to rural Japan! Click on the picture at left to see the box cover larger. Read more about it here. (WARNING! SPOILERS!)

Sunday, October 3, 2004, 3:40am: Eep, I'm up late! I have my Halloween page up now, with a new poem I wrote for it. It's not complete. I still need some music, plus I will be getting a limited edition Enchanted Hollow Pixie for the page also. And who knows what else?! :-P

11:52am:  ATLAS! (as my uncle used to say) A Tam update! Caleb, my current Tamagotchi Connection Tam, is still a teenager--he became an Ichigotchi a couple days ago. His intended, Angie (Bunnicula's Tam), has reached adulthood. She is a Hanatchi. I wonder if *Caleb* thinks her nose hairs are charming.......(weeeeeeird!). See Tamagotchi Square for more about the different characters.  :-)

10:24pm: Earlier this evening Caleb cleared all 30 hurdles, and I got to see the fireworks! It's only the second time I've ever been able to get a Tam to do that!

Tuesday, October 5, 2004, 10:23am:  Caleb turned into a Kuchipatchi sometime after he woke up this morning. I wasn't in the room, so I didn't see it happen. Well, he's a daydreaming romantic, which isn't such a bad thing.  :-)

Sunday, October 10, 2004, 8:57am: Eep! Caleb (whose stats I have not yet updated) has been on pause mostly. Although he thinks of Angie (Bunnicula's Tam) as a VERY close friend, she doesn't think of him as more than "just a friend". How are these two going to become a "match made in heaven"?? It might help if Caleb would stop giving her presents of poop (eeewwwww!) and start giving her cake and flowers and such!

In other news: I have been knitting (just garter stitch, folks--I am no great knitter) a fluffy throw made of Red Heart Light & Lofty yarn (very bulky and variable) on Number 15 (U.S.) needles. The colour is Navy Grape. Looks just like it sounds--dark and jewel-toned, with distinct purple and navy colours shining out at you. :-)  I have done about 1-1/2 skeins (of 7 skeins) so far. I cast on 75 stitches, and I forget how long I'm going to make it. I'm not using a pattern, just knitting.  :-)

This past week there were TWO debates! Stutz Beary-Bear, my bear who has followed politicsKatamari Damacy for years and years, has watched along with us all. Very exciting!

Yesterday Bunnicula bought this really weird game called Katamari Damacy! I have made, lemme see, 4 stars, one constellation, and some stardust. I am really stuck on making the constellation Cygnus! Here is what EB Games has to say about this game: "Cookies and kebabs, lawn mowers and lamp posts, synchronized swimmers and sumo wrestlers, bulldozers and windmills, giraffes and brontosauruses, Ferris wheels and cruise ships beware! The stop-at-nothing pushing prince is coming. When the King of All Cosmos accidentally destroys all the stars in the sky, he orders you, his pint-sized princely son, to put the twinkle back in the heavens above. How, you ask? By rolling everything and anything on earth into clumps, so he can replace what's missing in space." !! It's crazy...and fun! :-P

8:59pm: Caleb's stats are up now.

Wow, the Q hook will set you FREE! I crocheted a triangular shawl this afternoon! I am used to projects taking weeks, not HOURS!  :-)  More info when I get the tassels on (I need some worsted weight yarn to match the green in this colour. AND as soon as I can get some black yarn, I am going to make a black shawl just like this one for Halloween! Bwahahahahaha! To go with my all-black witchy look.  :-)

Later on I have yarn to make some lovely prayer shawls. And later on than that I will be looking into knitting or crocheting for charity. I've just been googling, and there are a lot of different projects one can do for many worthwhile charities!

Monday, October 11th, 2004, 9:10pm: My Christopher Reeve Memorial Page [EDIT Jan. 3, 2008: I took this down a year or so ago] that I put up this afternoon. It is more a remembrance page for me than anything else. I don't know about others, but I think I do these remembrance pages to help me adjust...I have one photo from my favourite of his movies, "Somewhere In Time". I have three photos from his appearances on "Smallville". Today is also my brother's birthday. Two people gone way before they should've...

Tuesday, October 12, 2004, 6:07am: (crossposted from My Animal Crossing Diary):

NOTICE (Tuesday, October 12, 2004)

Permission granted for Mr. Gerard William Hill of Melbourne, Australia to use parts of my Animal Crossing Diary plus selected photos.       Joanna M. Phillips

8:45pm: At 8:09pm Caleb and Angie (Bunnicula's Tam) met again and decided it was LOVE! There were fireworks, then two little bouncing baby boy Tams were born! One is staying with Angie; one is with Caleb. :-)

Wednesday, October 13, 2004, 3:53pm: Re: the shawl I crocheted on Sunday: I tried making tassels of the same yarn that I used in the shawl, but it didn't feel strong enough. When tying off at the top, I managed to fairly easily snap the thread! So I made tassels from some worsted weight yarn instead. Here are the pictures of the shawl!

Breast Cancer AwarenessThursday, October 14, 2004, 12:02pm: Sorry I didn't put this up at the beginning of the month; but you still have 1/2 the month to get mammograms, educate yourselves, donate to your favourite charity, etc. My page about my experience with breast cancer is here, with links to helpful sites and more.

I've added a second page to my Halloween section! It has more adoptions and a couple event participation awards (so far!). More to come. :-)

Friday, October 15, 2004, 10:46am:  My new baby Tam, now left to his own devices (and my tender mercies!), is Donal (named after the fellow who runs Pentrace!).

Sunday, October 17, 2004, 6:36am: Happy Birthday, Daddy.

10:39am: Some Halloween quilt squares I made are up in My Squares For You, in preparation for making my Halloween Quilt!  heehee!

2:49pm: My Halloween Quilt is now up!

4:57pm: Donal woke up sometime this morning, transformed into an Oniotchi, then went *back* to bed! He seems pretty easy-going. :-)  I've been feeding him WAY too many snacks though--his weight is really up there! All of us here in The Mouse House currently have boy Tamagotchi, so we'll all have to rely on Mrs. Busybody, the matchmaker when the time comes.

Thursday, October 21, 2004, 11am:  Nooooooooo! Donal turned into a Tarakotchi! ::sniff:: Poor Mr. Stinky Feet! He's a klutz too. ::sigh:: Oh well. I'm sure Mrs. Busybody will eventually find a bride for him when the time comes.

Saturday, October 23, 2004, 12:05am: Some reeeaaaalllly nice eye candy! James Marsters! I "lifted" this from Spikesbird's Journal.  :-D  Actually, I have a photo from this same session up on my wall right above my monitor! along with Ganesh, Orlando Bloom, mice, and bears.  :-D  I need to get a niiiice pic of Johnny Depp to go up there too! Click on the pic to see it larger!

Monday, October 25, 2004, 9:25pm: I've added an entire new page to my Halloween section! Go see!

Wednesday, October 27, 2004, 1:22am: I added a couple more pages today (it's still Tuesday to me): my Harmony of Souls Dedication (yes, another online group!) [EDIT: January 14, 2005: I left Harmony of Souls in November 2005, when I left WOSIB and GOF] and a memorial page to my father-in-law [EDIT Jan. 3, 2008: moved to DarkChilde's site] who passed away in February. Every step of the way I consulted with Bunnicula on making the page, to be sure things were okay with him. I found out, after I already had the music in my head, that that particular Enya song is Bunnicula's favourite!

Thursday, October 28, 2004, 1:15am: There are new pretties over in the Mélange section of My Treasures. Go take a peek.  :-)

2:24am: But wait! There's more! I've been looting, errrr madly adopting from:

Louise's Lodge

So check out these other pages: Shelves &c., My Elephant Quilt, Jewelry, Plaques &c., Causes I Support, and Pets & Friends!

3:26am: Yeah, yeah, go to bed. :-P  Hey, my black Bernat Soft Bouclé yarn arrived from Herrschners on Saturday, but I didn't start crocheting my triangular Easiest Shawl Ever for Halloween until around 3pm on Sunday. I didn't have enough daylight to finish that day, so I finished it on Monday. Pics later, although it looks just about the same as this one, except it's a little wider, but tapers faster to the point, making it not quite as long. I think I like the first shawl better. Learn as I go along.  :-)

Also on Sunday we bought a little pre-lit 28" tall Christmas tree at Michael's, along with some tiny ornaments, tree-topper, and miniature garland. :-)  We're set (I hope!).

Friday, October 29, 2004, 11:26am: I've had Donal on pause a good bit. Today I had him running, as I wanted him to get married! Mrs. Busybody, the matchmaker, came around this morning with a very cute Memetchi for Donal! All she had to do is look at him with those adorable big eyes and it was love! Donal now has a son, as of 10:30am!

Saturday, October 30, 2004, 11:29am EDT: Wooo! First it was the GOF Haunted House; now I've added a couple pages of goodies from the GOF Halloween Gift Exchange! Pretty things!

Sunday, October 31, 2004, 6:23am EST: May you have a Blessed Samhain and a Happy Halloween everyone!

Sparkly line
