Circle of Three series

This is a series of books by Isobel Bird and deals with three young high school girls who explore the world of Wicca and how their explorations affect their lives and the lives of others.

It might be best here to define Wicca. It is basically a nature-oriented religion, generally goddess-oriented, and is of a very positive nature. A wide variety of activities an be including the use of herbs, spells (magic), group work and so on. The general aim is to help others and never to hurt others. There is no demonic worship involved, and there is no effort to convert others to the belief system.

Another term often used is Witchcraft, but the term has acquired many negative connotations over time, especially since the time of the Inquisition and the execution of at least 250,000 women on the charge of practicing witchcraft. (Numbers of those executed range as high as 9,000,000).

The positive nature of the belief system is shown in the books along with what can go wrong if you do something for selfish purposes. The girls are growing in their beliefs and in their lives in general, and the series is quite interesting as you watch them mature over time.
